Dagnabit - Recording Artist/Director of Art & Design/GYS Co-Owner

Dagnabit (Derrick Henry)

Derrick Anthony Henry is an American rapper and songwriter.  Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, he embarked on his musical career after being introduced to a wide range of music by his father who was a member of many singing groups in the Dayton area.  Actually seeing members from many
popular Ohio groups like: Lakeside, The Ohio Players, Zapp & Roger and Heatwave, gave Dagnabit the opportunity to see how true artists create classic and original music.

Dagnabit began to take interest in the hip hop culture and rap art form in the late 80's.
He was a fan of N.W.A and Run DMC. Growing up in a tight knit family, when Dagnabit's older cousins started their rap group (Bloodline Organization), he became intrigued with the process of creating rap songs. He was fond of popular hip hop acts like: Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, LL Cool J, Biz Markie, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, and Big Daddy Kane.  As the hip hop phenomena grew, Dagnabit began to watch, learn and understand the elements of becoming an emcee.

In the 1990’s, Dagnabit began rapping in ciphers.  He was not
serious at the time, but he used to hang out in the lunchroom with his friends, free-styling and arguing about who they thought was the best rapper at the time. He used rap artists like: DMX, Ghostface Killa, Ice Cube, Jay Z, Eightball and Redman as blueprints for developing his own rap style. By the Late 90’s Dagnabit started a rap group called, The Graveyard Shift.  He chose Graveyard Shift because he always seemed to have third shift jobs.

By the early 2000’s, Dagnabit collaborated with rap group F.L.U.X. and began performing open mic sessions at local venues. On Collaborating efforts, the mixtape, Advanced Hip Hop 101 was created.    He then pushed his own brand and he and The Graveyard Shift began to tour across the region.  G.R.I.T.S. da Wooden Nicklez Theory was Dag's first solo mixtape released. He later dropped a project entitled, Ohio Born, and a group collab street album entitled The Statement. He has also been featured on several mix-tapes, including: Advanced Hip Hop 101, I’m Connected, T.R.O.Y. 2011, and has performed at the same venue with many notable artists, including: Tech 9, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Freeway, Cassidy, Ray Cash, Twista, Paul Wall, Boss, Sadat X and many more. This multifaceted emcee takes pride in his versatility, artistry, and the ability to create a distinct and classic sound that is missing in a lot of today’s mainstream hip hop.  Dagnabit is founder and co-owner of the Dayton, Ohio record label Graveyard Shift Entertainment.

Dagnabit has a unique concept for his album titles.  G.R.I.T.S. (Get Real Ignorance Tears Souls) is the book style title for all of his albums, and the individual album titles are the chapters.  The first chapter in the book of G.R.I.T.S. is Da Wooden Nickels Theory, which is an album-style mixtape introducing Dagnabit’s skillful rhyme style.  The Dayton emcee is currently working on the second chapter of G.R.I.T.S., entitled I am Legend, and it will be his first official commercial album release, which is scheduled to be available to the world at all major online music stores, including: iTunes, Amazon MP3 & CD Baby by December 3, 2018.  I am Legend’s first single, entitled: “Something In The Water,” is available digitally worldwide right now!

L-Mystro - Recording Artist/Director of Business Operations/GYS Co-Owner

L-Mystro (Jelani Arnold)

Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, hip-hop artist L-Mystro brings a fresh, unique style to the over saturated rap genre.  As a life long hip-hop fan, L-Mystro takes his craft very seriously and constantly aims to produce diverse, high quality music that crosses racial, ethnic, age and gender lines.  L-Mystro attempts to keep music listeners interested by incorporating lyrical elements, such as, flow, literary techniques, storytelling, current events, party themes, and inspirational, message-based rhymes…with an occasional addition of braggadocios material.

In an attempt to steer away from the current theme of senseless violence and excess in the rap game, L-Mystro has taken an unconventional approach to lyric writing.  Instead, the Dayton emcee is interested in song variety, focusing on diverse elements and concepts, rather than limiting his material to one or two topic areas.

L-Mystro didn’t write his first hip-hop song until he was thirty-two years old!  Although a late bloomer, he has received much positive reinforcement and support from most who have heard his lyrical ability.  As co-owner of Graveyard Shift Entertainment, L-Mystro has had the opportunity to learn much about the music business that many artists do not get the opportunity to be exposed to, and because of that exposure, L-Mystro is a very professional and polished communicator when dealing with business contacts.  After quickly learning how to write, arrange, and record songs effectively, L-Mystro has now completed his full length commercial album, entitled: 30's Rookie, which was released on December 1, 2017, and is digitally available worldwide at all major online retailers and streaming services, including: iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Google Play, iHeart Radio, and Pandora!
